What each Jira card shows
You have added a Jira card. Here is what it lists. The four cards read Jira with your own token, so they show what your Jira account sees.
All four have the same table.
| Column | What it shows | Shown at first |
|---|---|---|
| Key | The issue number, for example SHOP-42 | Yes |
| Type | The type of the issue as your Jira names it, for example Epic, Story, Bug | Yes |
| Resource | The Jira project | Yes |
| Title | The summary of the issue | Yes |
| Priority | Its priority in Jira, for example Highest, High, Medium, Low, Lowest | Yes |
| Status | Its status in Jira, for example to do, in progress, done | No |
| Estimate | Its story points, or else its original time estimate. A dash (-) when the issue has none. | No |
| Sprint | The sprint the issue belongs to. A dash (-) when it belongs to none. | No |
| Date | Its last update | Yes |
- The statuses present are written at the top right of the card, for example to do, in progress.
- Each row ends with an arrow: click it to open the issue in Jira.
- Under the table, Show 5 results lets you pick 5, 10, 25 or 50 rows per page: see Choose how many results a card shows. The count (for example 1-5 of 120) and the arrows Previous table page and Next table page move through the pages.
The cards read all the pages of Jira's answer, up to 1000 issues. Past that, the card says Showing the first 1000 issues: Jira holds more. Narrow the query to see the rest. above the table.
The Estimate column was checked on an issue without estimate (a dash). The story points and the time estimate were not checked on an instance.
🧩 Show or hide a column
-
On My Dashboards, open the tab of the dashboard.
-
At the top right of the card, click the More button, then Edit. The window Edit Card opens.
-
Open the Columns tab. Under Select columns to display, you read the nine columns:
key,type,resource,title,priority,status,estimate,sprint,date. -
Tick status, estimate or sprint to show the column. Untick a column to hide it.
-
Click Save.
The table now has the columns you ticked, in the order above.
↕️ Sort by status
-
In the header of the table, click Status. The issues are sorted by status, those that are
donefirst. -
Click Status again. The order is reversed: the issues that are
to docome first.
The sort applies to all the issues the card read, not only to the page you see. If Status is not in the table, show it first: see Show or hide a column.
↕️ Sort by priority
-
In the header of the table, click Priority. The issues are sorted in Jira's order:
Highest,High,Medium,Low,Lowest. -
Click Priority again. The order is reversed: the
Lowestissues come first.
A priority your Jira administrator created comes after Lowest. An issue without priority comes last.
The sort applies to all the issues the card read, not only to the page you see.
My Open Issues
The open issues assigned to you, most recently updated first.
My Sprint
The Jira issues assigned to you in the sprint that is running, with the name of the sprint in the Sprint column.
When your Jira has no sprint running (a Kanban project has none), the card says:
No sprint is running: your Jira has no active sprint (a Kanban project has none). Use « My Open Issues » to see your work.
Add a My Open Issues card to see your work in that case.
The list of a running sprint was not checked on an instance: the Jira used for this page had no sprint running.
To Review
The issues where you are reviewer or mentioned. With none, the card says Nothing here yet and No Jira issue is waiting for your approval.
JQL Query
The issues returned by the JQL query you wrote in the jql field when you added the card. Some examples to copy:
| You want | jql |
|---|---|
| All the issues of a project, whoever they are assigned to | project = SHOP ORDER BY updated DESC |
| The open issues of a project | project = SHOP AND statusCategory != Done ORDER BY updated DESC |
| What is assigned to you | assignee = currentUser() ORDER BY created DESC |
To change the query later, see below.
Change what a card shows
-
On My Dashboards, open the tab of the dashboard.
-
At the top right of the card, click the More button, then Edit. The Edit Card window has three tabs:
Tab What you do General Rename the card, change its icon, and for JQL Query change the jql field Columns Show or hide a column Filters Remove a status or a project from the list, so its rows disappear -
Click Save.
The same menu has Refresh, to read Jira again now (see Read a card's source again), and Delete.
