Add a card

A card shows one thing from one source on your dashboard: your merge requests, your pipelines, the Compass scores of your components. You choose the source and what it shows.

Before you start

Your role must allow it. Without it, Add a card shows a padlock. Hover it: the tooltip says Your role can't add cards to dashboards. Ask an administrator. Ask your administrator to give your role the Orion-dashboard permissions dashboard.create, dashboard.update, dashboard.card.create, dashboard.card.update and dashboard.card.delete (Check what a role gives).

A source other than astrolabe needs a connection that your administrator added in Administration β€Ί Company connections: see for example Add the GitLab integration.

The source astrolabe is offered only when a plugin it serves is on in Administration β€Ί Plugins: Deployments gives the key Deployments, Compass gives the key Compass. With both off, astrolabe is not in the list; with one on, only its key is.

πŸ”§ Add the card

  1. In the left sidebar, click My Dashboards, then the tab of the dashboard you want.

  2. Click Add a card, at the top of the page next to Arrange and Fullscreen. On an empty dashboard, the same button is in the middle of the page.

  3. In the window Add a card, fill in the form:

    FieldWhat to chooseExample
SourceWhere the data comes from: astrolabe, github, gitlab, jira…astrolabe
KeyWhat the card shows. A line under the field says what.Compass
Card NameThe title of the card (required)Scores

  4. Click Add.

Nothing to save afterwards. When you chose another dashboard than the one you are looking at, a message says Card added to Β« Delivery Β», with a button Open that takes you there.

πŸ‘€ What a card shows, and how to keep only yours

A card reads everything that your account can see among the components of the catalog, not only what is yours: every pull request of a repository of the catalog that your token reads, every application, every build. Some tables carry a column that says which rows are yours (My role, Mine), and you can filter on it and save the filter with the card: see Change or remove a card.

The cards of each tool have their own page: for example Add the GitHub cards to your dashboard, Add the GitLab cards to your dashboard, Add the Argo CD card, Add the Jira cards.

βœ… That's it!

Next: Arrange your cards.
