Grafana FAQ

Does Grafana need a license?

Yes, the Premium license. Without a license that covers it, the Monitoring tab is not on the components and the Alerts in trouble card is closed: see Common problems with Grafana.

Which token?

A Grafana service account token with the Viewer role. See Create a Grafana service account token.

Does Astrolabe change anything in Grafana?

No. Astrolabe only reads: alerts and dashboards.

Do I enter Grafana twice?

No. The Grafana plugin card has no settings. The address and the token are entered once, in Administration › Company connections, and serve both the tab and the card.

Who sees the Monitoring tab?

Anyone who can open the component. Astrolabe reads Grafana with the token of the integration, the same for every reader.

The tab is missing on a component. Why?

The tab only exists on a component annotated grafana/dashboard or grafana/alert-label-selector, when the Grafana plugin is turned on. See Show the Monitoring tab.

Do I need a dashboard to see alerts?

No. grafana/alert-label-selector alone shows the tab with its alerts.

Does the card show only my components?

No: it lists the alerts of every component of the catalog that carries the grafana/alert-label-selector annotation. Filter the column Mine to keep yours: see Keep only your rows.
