Add the Azure DevOps cards to your dashboard

The Azure DevOps cards of My Dashboards show what your own Azure DevOps account sees. They need your own token, connected once, from the card itself.

The cards

KeyWhat it says it shows
PipelinesAzure Pipelines runs of every repository of the catalog your token reads, whoever requested them (filter on « requested by me » to keep yours)
Detailed PipelinesPipeline runs with timeline stages, status breakdown, and duration
Pull RequestsPull requests of every Azure DevOps repository of the catalog your token reads, with reviewers, vote status and your role (filter on it to keep yours)
To ReviewAzure DevOps work items assigned to you as reviewer
My Open Work ItemsOpen work items assigned to you with status
WIQL QueryRun a custom WIQL query and display matching work items

What the cards show once your account is connected was not checked on a live Azure DevOps organization.

Which repositories, and how to keep only yours

Pull Requests, Pipelines and Detailed Pipelines read every repository of the catalog that your token reads (the components that carry the dev.azure.com/project-repo annotation), whoever owns the component and whoever started the run. Each row says what you are on it, in a column you can filter, and the filter is saved with the card:

CardColumnValuesTo keep yours
Pull RequestsMy roleAuthor, Reviewer, OtherRemove Other in the Filters tab
Pipelines and Detailed PipelinesRequested by meYes, NoRemove No in the Filters tab

The steps are those of Keep only your rows.

When Azure DevOps holds more than a card can read, the card says so above the table: Partial list: the read stopped at its limit for …. Azure DevOps holds more. and names the lists concerned.

➕ Add a card

  1. In the left sidebar, click My Dashboards, then the tab of the dashboard you want.

  2. Click Add a card, at the top of the page.

  3. In Add a card, pick Source azure, then a Key. The line under the key says what it shows.

  4. For WIQL Query only, a field wiql appears: write the query to run against Azure DevOps. For example:

    SELECT [System.Id] FROM WorkItems WHERE [System.AssignedTo] = @Me AND [System.State] <> 'Closed'
  5. Enter a Card Name, then click Add.

The azure source is missing?

It is only offered once the administrator has added the Azure DevOps integration.

🔗 Connect your Azure DevOps account

The first time, the card says Your Azure DevOps account is not connected. and explains that the company token does not serve this card.

  1. In the card, click Connect my Azure DevOps account. The window Connect my Azure DevOps account opens. It lists the rights the token needs and links to Create my token on Azure DevOps.

  2. Fill in:

    • Username: the email address of your Azure DevOps account, for example jdoe@example.com. Astrolabe recognises you by it in Azure DevOps events.
    • Token: a token of your own account. See Create an Azure DevOps token.
  3. Click Test Connection.

  4. Click Save. Every Azure DevOps card of your dashboard reads again.

This step was not checked on a live instance.
