Request access when sign-in is refused
When you sign in with a provider and Astrolabe refuses you, the sign-in page lets you ask an administrator for access. There are two cases: you have no license, or Astrolabe does not know your account yet. An administrator then answers in Administration βΊ Licensing.
π Ask for access when you have no licenseβ
-
On the sign-in page, the window Request Access to Astrolabe is open. It says You don't have an active license for Astrolabe. Would you like to request access? and, under it, your account, for example
User: user:default/acme.dupont. You have nothing to type for that line. -
In Reason for access request (optional), write why you need access.
-
Click Request Access.
The window closes and a message says Access request sent. An administrator will review it.
The window opens the same way when the provider sends you back to Astrolabe after the refusal. This page was written from that return to the sign-in page; the provider's own screen was not checked on a live instance.
β That's it!
π Ask for access when Astrolabe does not know your accountβ
When the provider accepts you but Astrolabe has no account for you in its catalog, you come back to the sign-in page and a message at the top says Your account is not known to Astrolabe yet. Ask your administrator to add you, then try again.
-
Under Astrolabe, click Request access.
-
In the window Request Access to Astrolabe, type your address in Your email. It is required: Request Access stays grayed until the address is valid.
-
In Your name (optional), type your name.
-
In Reason for access request (optional), write why you need access.
-
Click Request Access.
The window closes and a message says Access request sent. An administrator will review it.
If you send a second request with the same address while the first one waits, a message says An access request for this email is already pending. Nothing more to do: wait for the administrator.
β That's it!
π‘οΈ Answer a request (administrator)β
-
In the left sidebar, at the bottom, click Administration, then, under SECURITY, Licensing.
-
Click the Access Requests tab. The title says how many there are, for example Access Requests (1).
-
Each line shows User, Origin, Status (Pending), Requested, Reason and two buttons, Approve and Deny. Origin is No license or Account not in the catalog.
-
For a request whose Origin is Account not in the catalog, click Approve. A message says Request approved. The account is not in the catalog: add it so the person can sign in. The request moves to Approved (click Show All Requests to see it), but the person can sign in only once you have added their account to the catalog.
What Approve and Deny do for a person who has no license was not checked on a live instance. Deny was not checked either.
