See the roles and what they give

You are an administrator. The page Access control shows every role on one screen: nothing is changed from it.

πŸ” Open the list

  1. In the left sidebar, at the bottom, click Administration.

  2. Under SECURITY, click Access Control. The page Access control lists the roles.

Each line shows:

ColumnWhat it says
RoleThe name of the role, and under it its identifier, for example role:default/astrolabe-administrator
MembersWho holds it, for example 2 groups + 1 person
AccessThe first plugins the role reaches, then +8 for the others
OriginFile (with a padlock) for a role of the configuration file, Editable for a role made in Astrolabe
  1. To find a role, type its name in Search a role. The list Origin keeps All, Editable or File roles.

πŸ‘₯ See who holds a role

  1. Click the line of the role, for example Administrator.

  2. The tab Members lists the groups and the people of the role. People in the group says how many people a group holds.

πŸ”‘ See what a role gives

  1. On the page of the role, click the tab Rights.

  2. Read one line per plugin. A green tick under Read, Create, Update or Delete means the role gives it, a dash means it does not.

  3. On a line with Advanced (2), click it: the list shows the other permissions of the plugin, each one allowed, refused or under conditions.

A role that gives nothing says This role gives no right.

πŸ”’ A role of the file

On a role tagged File, a notice says This role comes from the configuration file, it cannot be changed here. For Administrator, it adds To manage the administrators, add or remove a person in the group Astrolabe administrators. and a button Open the group. Click it to reach Groups.

βœ… That's it!

Next: Give administrator rights to someone.
