Change or delete a role

πŸ” Open a role

  1. In the left sidebar, click Administration, then, under SECURITY, Access Control.

  2. In the list, click the line of the role.

The page shows the description, the identifier, and two tabs: Members and Rights.

πŸ‘₯ Add people to a role

  1. Click the tab Members, then Add. The window Add members opens.

  2. Click the field Groups and people, type a name, click the group or the person in the list. Repeat for each one.

  3. Click Add.

The message Members added to the role Acme readers. appears and they are in the table. The change applies at once.

πŸšͺ Remove a person from a role

  1. In the tab Members, on the line of the person, click the icon Remove (column Actions). The window Remove this member? opens.

  2. Click Remove.

The message says the person is removed from the role. A role keeps at least one member: the icon of the last one is greyed out.

✏️ Change the rights of a role

  1. Click the tab Rights, then Edit rights.

  2. Tick or untick the boxes. A box stands for all the permissions of the plugin for this action. A box with a dash inside is half ticked: the role holds only some of them.

  3. Click Save, or Cancel to leave everything as it was. Nothing is written before you save.

The message Rights saved. appears.

The column Advanced lists what the boxes do not cover (other actions, refusals, rules under conditions, tagged Conditional rule). It is shown as it is and does not change when you save.

πŸ—‘οΈ Delete a role

  1. At the top right of the page of the role, click the icon More actions.

  2. Click Delete the role. The window Delete this role? says the role and the rights it gives are removed, and that its members keep their other roles.

  3. Click Delete the role.

The list opens and says Role Acme readers deleted.

note

A role that comes from the configuration file says This role comes from the configuration file, it cannot be changed here. It has no button to add, edit or delete.
