Follow the creation of a component

When you click Create, Astrolabe runs the steps of the template one after the other. You watch them on the page of the task.

Watch the steps

The page shows the steps of the template, for example Generate the Files and List the Files for Component Sandbox, or Fetch Base Template, Publish to GitHub and Register Component. Each has an icon: a step that fails turns red, the steps after it are skipped.

Under the steps, the log lists what each step did. The buttons at the top right:

ButtonWhat it does
Hide LogsHides the log under the steps
Start OverOpens the form again, with your answers already filled in
CancelGreyed out when the task is over

In the log, the search field filters the lines, and the arrow beside it downloads the log.

When the creation succeeds

Each step ends with a green check mark, and the bar above the steps turns green. Under the steps, a block shows the result of the template, with a title the template chose (for example Files generated). Cancel is greyed out and Start Over stays available. In the Tasks tab, the Status of the task reads Completed.

The links that a template can show in that block, such as Repository or Open in Catalog, were not checked on a live instance.

When the creation fails

The failed step turns red, and a red message appears under the steps. It starts with The template did not finish, then names the step and says what went wrong. The log under it keeps the details. The messages are listed in Common problems with The Foundry.

Find your past creations

  1. In The Foundry, click the Tasks tab.

The table lists each task: Task ID, Template, Created, Owner and Status (for example Failed). Click a Task ID to reopen its page.

At the bottom, Show 20 results changes how many tasks one page shows.
