Compare branches

Tick two or three branches and the Tech stack tab puts them side by side. Use it to see what a release branch still has that main dropped, or the other way round.

Before you start

You can open the Tech stack tab of the component: see See a component's tech stack.

⚖️ Compare

  1. In the top bar, click Catalog, click your component, then click the Tech stack tab.

  2. Under Branches, tick a second branch, for example release/2.4. To find a branch in a long list, type in Search a branch.

  3. The page now shows Comparison: a table with the column Item and one column per branch. The rows are grouped as Languages, Language versions, Base image and Dependencies.

  4. Next to a dependency whose version is not the same in every branch, the word differs is shown.

  5. Switch on Only differences. The table keeps only the lines that differ, for example one dependency with 3.2.0 on main and 3.1.4 on release/2.4.

Untick a branch to leave the comparison. With one branch ticked, you are back on the Tech stack of that branch.

Three at most

The tab compares two or three branches: Tick one branch to see its tech stack, two or three to compare them.
