Request a trial license

Try Astrolabe on your own machine for 14 days, free. You ask for a personal license from the demo, ForgeIT approves it, and you receive by e-mail the license key and the command that starts Astrolabe. This page takes you from the demo to your own Astrolabe.

You need an e-mail address and, to start Astrolabe, Docker on your machine.

🙋 Ask for the license​

  1. Open the address of the demo.

  2. On the sign-in page, click Request a personal trial licence.

  3. In Email, type your address.

  4. Fill in First name and Last name. Company (optional) can stay empty.

  5. Tick I agree to be contacted again if ForgeIT may contact you about your trial. You can leave it unticked: the license is the same.

  6. Click Get a code.

  7. Open the e-mail that reaches your mailbox to confirm your trial license request. Copy the 6-digit code.

  8. Back on the page, type the code in Code, then click Confirm my request.

The page says Request sent. You will receive your licence by email as soon as it is approved.

✅ That's it! When ForgeIT approves your request, you receive the e-mail Your Astrolabe trial license.

📬 What the e-mail gives you​

The e-mail Votre licence d'essai Astrolabe / Your Astrolabe trial license is written in French, then in English. It gives:

  • your license key and the date your trial ends, 14 days after the approval;
  • the command that starts Astrolabe on your machine, with your key already in it;
  • the command that shows the administrator password.

💻 Start Astrolabe with your license​

  1. In a terminal, run the command of the e-mail. It looks like this one, with your key and the version of the e-mail:

    docker run -d --name astrolabe -p 7007:7007 -e ASTROLABE_LICENCE=<your license key> -v astrolabe-data:/app/data forgeitnc/astrolabe:<version>

    Keep -v astrolabe-data:/app/data: your data lives in this volume.

  2. Read the administrator password generated at the first start.

    docker logs astrolabe | grep "with this password"

    The password is the word right after with this password:.

  3. Open http://127.0.0.1:7007.

  4. In Username, type administrator. In Password, paste the password of step 2, then click SIGN IN.

  5. Astrolabe asks for your own password. Type it in New password and again in Confirm the new password, at least 12 characters, then click SET PASSWORD AND SIGN IN.

Astrolabe opens on My dashboards. Your license is already active.

✅ Done! To check it, click Administration at the bottom of the sidebar, then Licensing: the license shows Active, your address, and Expires on the end date of your trial.

❓ Frequently asked questions​

How long does the trial last?​

14 days from the approval. The end date is in the e-mail and in Administration › Licensing.

How many people can use it?​

One. The trial license is personal: one user, and it must not be shared.

Can I ask for a second trial?​

No. One trial license per e-mail address. Asking again with the same address sends nothing new.

Do I lose my data if I restart or update the container?​

No, as long as you keep -v astrolabe-data:/app/data. Removing the container (docker rm -f astrolabe) and running the command again keeps your accounts, settings and password.

How do I move to a paid license?​

Remove the container with docker rm -f astrolabe, then run the command of the e-mail again with the new key in ASTROLABE_LICENCE. Your data stays. You can also paste the new key in Administration › Licensing with Add New License.

How do I move my trial to PostgreSQL?​

Follow Move to PostgreSQL: your data comes along, nothing is lost.

Under License key: ForgeIT refused this key. Copy it again from the message you received, without spaces; if it is refused again, write to support@forgeit.fr.Copy the key again from the e-mail, without spaces, then click Activate.
docker logs astrolabe shows no passwordThe password is written at the very first start only. If you already chose your own password, sign in with it.
