Common problems with the GitHub catalog
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
Under Organization: Organization is required | Enter the organization, as in https://github.com/<organization>. |
In the Catalog collection table, State says Done and Detail says Nothing found: no catalog-info.yaml on the branch read, or the token is not a member of the projects. | No repository passed the filters. Check Repository Regex, Branch and Catalog Path, and that the token's account can see the repositories. |
State says Failed and Detail says The collection failed for a reason Astrolabe could not identify. Run it again; if it fails again, tell your company's Astrolabe administrator. | With Import GitHub members and teams ticked, the token is usually missing the read:user scope: in GitHub, open the token, tick read:user and click Update token (the token stays the same, nothing to paste again). Otherwise, check that Organization is written as in https://github.com/<organization>, and that the token's account can see it. Then click Run the GitHub collection now. |
Administration › Problems lists Catalog collection, The last collection failed. Run it again from the Catalog screen. | Click Fix it: it leads to Administration › Catalog. Fix the provider, then run the collection again. |
State says Unknown and Detail says Ran before Astrolabe restarted: its outcome is not known. Run it now to see it. | Click Run the GitHub collection now. |
| You only see administrator in Catalog, under Users | Import GitHub members and teams is not ticked. In Administration › Catalog, click Configure on the GitHub card, tick Import GitHub members and teams (with Organization filled in), click Update Configuration, then Run the GitHub collection now. |
Someone who signs in with GitHub reads Your GitHub account is not in the Astrolabe catalog yet. Ask your Astrolabe administrator to tick « Import GitHub members and teams » in Administration › Catalog › GitHub. | Same fix: tick Import GitHub members and teams, as above. |
A new repository or a changed catalog-info.yaml does not show up | The catalog reads GitHub every 30 minutes. Click Run the GitHub collection now. |
