Is there a shortcut to open the search?
No: click Search in the left sidebar.
Does the search look inside the documentation of a component?
Yes, even if nobody has opened that documentation yet: Astrolabe builds it in the background. A documentation that does not build is not searched, and Administration › Problems says it: see Common problems with Confluence. Does the search look inside Confluence?
Yes, once Confluence is connected: see Add the Confluence integration.
Where is the difference with Search by name in the catalog?
Search by name (in the catalog) only looks at names, in one kind of thing at a time. Search looks at names and descriptions, in every kind at once.
Why does the search find nothing on a new instance?
Because the search index takes a few minutes to build. The page says it: On a new instance, the search index can take a few minutes to build. Wait, then search again.
Why does a component I know not show up?
Its name and its description hold none of your words, or a filter is on. Open Filters, pick All under Kind and untick Lifecycle.
