See the versions deployed

Deployments shows which version of each component runs on each environment: on a page of its own, and on each component.

What you see, and for whom

  • Deployments, in the sidebar: a table with one row per component. It has a Component column, an Owner column, then one column per environment, named after it (for example production and staging). Each environment cell holds the version deployed there, in a green chip. The most recent version of the component is a solid chip; an older one is paler. A component that is not deployed on an environment shows a dash (—).
  • On a component: a Deployments card on its Overview (the version on each environment), and a Deployments tab with a table (each environment, its version, when it was deployed). The timeline is one click away. The card is on the Overview of every component: it says Nothing deployed yet until a pipeline or Argo CD reports a version for it.

Anyone who can open a component sees its deployments. The versions come from the source your administrator chose: what your pipelines report to Astrolabe — see Report deployments from your pipelines — or Argo CD — see Read the versions in Argo CD.

1. 🔌 Turn on Deployments

You need to be an administrator.

  1. In the sidebar, click Administration, then, under PLATFORM, Plugins.

  2. On the Deployments card, click the switch in the top right corner of the card (named "Enable Deployments"). It turns on at once, and Deployments appears in the sidebar.

2. 🔎 Find a component

  1. In the sidebar, click Deployments.

  2. In Search a component, type part of its name. Only the rows whose component holds what you typed stay. When no row is left, the page says No results with these filters: click Clear filters.

Narrow the table down

Filters (top right) keeps some components, owners or environments. Select Only My Component(s) keeps the components of your teams.

When nothing has been reported yet

With the astrolabe source, the page says No deployment has been reported yet. until a pipeline reports one. An administrator sees the link Report deployments from your pipelines under it: it leads to the Pipeline token tab, see Report deployments from your pipelines. Anyone else reads An administrator generates the token your pipelines report deployments with.

3. 📦 Look at one component

  1. Open the component from Catalog.

  2. On its Overview, the Deployments card shows the version on each environment. Click a version to open its deployment.

  3. Click the Deployments tab: the Table shows each environment, its version and when it was deployed. Click Timeline to see the versions one after the other.

✅ That's it!
