Find and install an AI resource

You look for a skill, an agent or a rule on one page, read it, then copy one command that puts it in your project.

Before you start

AI resources is on (Turn on AI resources) and at least one repository is published (Publish your AI resources).

πŸ”Ž Find a resource

  1. In the left sidebar, click AI resources. Each resource is a card with its name, its kind (skill, agent, instructions file or runbook), its description, the tools that read its format (Format read by Claude Code, Cursor), its owner, its repository and its score. Above the cards, 9 resources counts them.

  2. In Search AI resources, type a word of a name, a description or a tag, for example review. The cards narrow while you type.

  3. To narrow further, click one of the filters and pick a value: Type, Tool, Owner, Repository, Tag. Pick All to remove one. For example, Tool β€Ί Codex keeps the resources Codex reads.

tip

A runbook says Read by no AI tool: a guide for people. It is a procedure to read, not a file to install.

πŸ“– Read a resource before you use it

  1. Click the name of a resource. Its page opens on the tab Overview.

  2. In About this AI resource, read the Type, the Owner, the Repository, the Path of the file, the Commit Astrolabe read, and Read on, the date of that reading.

  3. Read What it could run. It lists the scripts, hooks, MCP servers and shell access found in the resource, or says No script, hook, MCP server nor shell found. For a skill with a script it says, for example, contains 1 script (scripts/run.sh) Β· allows Bash.

  4. Click the tab Content to read the files of the resource.

caution

Astrolabe indexes and displays this content; it neither runs nor checks it. Read it before you install it.

πŸ“₯ Install a resource

  1. On the page of the resource, click Install. The window Install opens, with a line Made for: that names the tools that read this resource.

  2. Under Your tool, click your tool: Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or GitHub Copilot. The command and the folder it installs into change with the tool, for example Installs into .claude/agents for Claude Code and .cursor/agents for Cursor.

  3. Click Copy. The message Command copied appears at the bottom of the screen.

  4. Open a terminal at the root of your project and paste the command.

The command downloads only this resource, with your own Git access to the repository, and copies it into your project. It is pinned to the commit Astrolabe read (Pinned to commit 7ea3509): you get that version, not later ones. Come back to this window to update it. A resource with the same name already in the folder is replaced.

βœ… That's it!

🧭 When Astrolabe gives no command
