Choose what the catalog imports

The catalog fills itself from your providers: GitLab, GitHub, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, Microsoft Graph. In Administration β€Ί Catalog you choose which providers run, and what each one reads.

You do it as an administrator.

Before you start

A provider reads your tool with the connection you added in Company connections. Add it first: without it, the card of the provider says Configure the github integration first: without it, this provider cannot read anything. (with the name of its tool) and its switch stays off.

πŸ”§ Turn a provider on

  1. In the left sidebar, at the bottom, click Administration.

  2. Under PLATFORM, click Catalog. The Providers tab opens, with one card per provider.

  3. On the card of your provider, click Configure.

  4. Fill in the form. Each ? next to a field explains it.

  5. Click Install.

  6. The window Reloading configuration says Please wait while the instance is reloading... Wait until the page comes back.

The fields depend on the provider: follow the page of yours.

πŸ” Narrow what a provider imports

On the Configure form of GitLab, these fields keep the catalog from filling with everything:

FieldWhat it does
GroupOnly this group and its subgroups.
Only projects I am a member ofOnly the projects of the token's user.
Project RegexOnly the projects whose name matches, for example ^api-.*.
Skip Forked RepositoriesLeaves out forked projects.
BranchesThe branches to read.
Catalog FileThe file to read at the root of each project. Default: catalog-info.yaml.

To change them later, click Configure on the card again, edit, and click Update Configuration. Astrolabe reloads the same way.

πŸ“‹ See how the collections went

Once a provider is installed, the Providers tab shows the Catalog collection table above the cards:

ColumnWhat it says
ProviderThe provider.
StateDone, Running, Failed or Unknown.
Last run / Next runWhen it last ran, when it runs next.
DetailWhat happened, in a sentence.
ActionsThe play button of the row, for example Run the GitLab projects collection now.

To collect right now, click the play button on the row of the provider: see Run a catalog collection now.

β›” Turn a provider off

  1. On the card of the provider, click Configure.

  2. Click Uninstall.

βœ… That's it!

Next: Run a catalog collection now.

Then: Register an existing component.
